Have you ever wondered about the steps required to buy a pup online? It is really a lot simpler than you think, and it is quite safe. We bought our Jaxon from a breeder out-of-state and had him shipped to us. It is a very hard decision to make, hard to accept there is still an "honor system" in today's world, but that is exactly what we had to do and how we learned to do the same with our puppies. I ask people - how many puppies do you think I would be able to sell if I were not an honest person?
When you make the decision to buy a puppy, there is a $250 non-refundable deposit required to "hold" a pup for you. If the distance requires the puppy to be shipped, there is also a shipping fee that must be paid prior to shipping. Some people like to use PayPal as they feel this gives them a level of security. Most people send a personal check or cashier check from their bank. These are the only forms of payment accepted and funds must be received far enough in advance for checks to clear, usually 1-2 weeks ahead of shipment. ABSOLUTELY NO MONEY ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. There is also the balance due for the pup which must also be received prior to shipment with the same time constraints for clearing your financial institution.
If you happen to live close enough to visit, or at least within a distance we can "meet in the middle" a cash balance is requested if payment hasn't been made prior to pick up. This ensures a "complete" transaction, with no worries regarding the funding. Breeders I have talked to require payment in full before the pup is 8 weeks old and I also adhere to this policy. It's that simple!
